Goethe Institute: Rethinking electronic music in Venezuela
03.2022
In early 2022 the Goethe-Institute Venezuela Initiated an important research project on the history and present of electronic music in Venezuela. Led by musicologist Daniel Atilano and electronic music researcher Rodrigo Figueroa (founder of MECA) the program convened a series of meeting points and presentations to disseminate new ideas and explorations occurring within the field of electronic music in Venezuela.
My contribution presented a Spanish adaptation of my research on participatory music systems, specializing in the demonstration of the latest possibilities of electronic music distribution through online browsers.
In this regard, I presented a full overview of the latest native and web-based sound programming environments (Tone.js, PD, TidalCycles, etc.) and discussed why Pure Data / Purr Data is a strong framework for accessible, participatory deployment.
